Heather Spinelli
Ms. Heather's love for dance began when she was 4 years old, watching Shirley Temple tap dance. She quickly signed up for Tap and Jazz classes! Even ready to teach back then, Heather would stand a little ahead of her dance class mates and yell out the steps. Her love for dance grew throughout the years and it led her to The Performing Arts School of Metro Toledo her 8th grade year. There, she was able to take ballet, contemporary, hip hop, choreography classes, more tap and jazz, as well as music and theater classes. Heather was able to train with two instructors who danced with the Dance Theater of Harlem. Her favorite dancing memory from high school was playing Linus in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and when she tap danced with a giant blanket. After high school, Heather began an after school dance program at her childhood elementary school, giving many kids who couldn't afford dance classes a chance to enjoy this art form. McTigue Junior High found out about the this and recruited her to choreograph for their show choir. A few years later Heather enjoyed 4 years of teaching dance at the YMCA. After her first daughter, Natalie, was born, she put away her dance shoes to be a stay at home mommy. Two years later she was blessed with another girl, Jocelyn. Once Natalie was 4, Heather knew it was time to let her dsaughter try dance classes too. She was so happy to have heard about our beloved Black Swamp Fine Arts School. Two years later she joined the staff. Heather is extremely happy to be apart of the BSFAS family and to be sharing the love of dance with her students.
